  3. Initially estimate the required heat transfer area based on the overall heat transfer coefficient from experience and select the model of the air cooler.

Calculate the initially selected model based on the operating conditions and properties of the process medium: the film heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop inside the heat exchanger tubes, the heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop outside the tubes, the overall heat transfer coefficient, and the effective average temperature difference, and then calculate the required heat transfer area.
