  A well-designed heat exchanger should meet the following basic requirements during design or selection:

  1. Reasonably achieve the specified process conditions of the heat exchanger;

  2. The structure of the heat exchanger is safe and reliable;

  3. The heat exchanger is easy to manufacture, install, operate, and maintain;

  4. Economically reasonable.

  In thermal systems, heat exchangers serve as the connection hub between the primary and secondary heating networks, separating the boiler's water circulation system from the external heating network's water circulation system, each utilizing circulation pumps for independent circulation. This allows for better control and monitoring of various indicators of the boiler water, ensuring the safe use of the boiler. Without heat exchangers, the hot water pipes flowing through the boiler would essentially be external boiler pipes. Generally, the heating network pipes are quite long, radiating several kilometers. The water in these pipes must pass through small heat exchangers at the user's premises before flowing back to the boiler for reheating. This means that impurities in the pipes, such as sludge, could flow through the boiler's heating surface pipes and adhere to the pipe walls. Of course, filters are set up before entering the boiler, but filters typically can only filter particles around Ф0.5mm, and fine impurities like sludge cannot be filtered out. Newly installed heating network pipes that have not been cleaned of dirt during installation will accumulate in the heating surface pipes of the heat exchanger over time. Accumulation will eventually block the pipes, leading to pipe bursts.
